The Chippokes Junior Ranger Academy is now accepting applicants. Kids will interact with nature and discover cool things about our history. Children who come to the program all four days will receive a Junior Ranger badge at the graduation ceremony. Hidden History, July 29 Uncover mysteries of the past. Farms and Forests, July 30 Explore the animals and plants that make a farm successful. Not So Spooky, July 31 Discover how the animals that some people might consider scary play an important role in our everyday lives. River Critters, August 1 Take a look at the hidden life in the James River. For kids 5-7 years old. The cost for one day is $3 or $10 for all four days. Register by calling the park office at 757-294-3625 or emailing the park at Chippokes@dcr.virginia.gov. Space is limited. Please provide your name, primary telephone number, email address, and the names of children attending. Bring a packed lunch daily, sunscreen, water, and bug spray. On August 1, participants will need to bring a bathing suit under their clothing and water shoes. Participants may also want to bring a change of clothes, we will be seining in the James River.
