The Chippokes Junior Ranger Academy is now accepting applicants. Kids will interact with nature and discover cool things about our history. Children who come to the program all four days will receive a Junior Ranger badge at the graduation ceremony. Living History, August 5 Take a step back in time. Forest Detectives, August 6 Discover the often unseen lives of plants and animals in the forest. Water, Water Everywhere, August 7 Explore tidal marshes and learn about the water that surrounds us. From Ocean to River, August 8 Unearth the creatures that lived here long ago and learn how the habitats at Chippokes have gone through drastic changes. For kids 8-12 years old. The cost for one day is $3 or $10 for all four days. Register by calling the park office at 757-294-3625 or emailing the park at Chippokes@dcr.virginia.gov. Space is limited. Please provide your name, primary telephone number, email address, and the names of children attending. Bring a packed lunch daily, sunscreen, water, and bug spray. On August 7 and 8, participants should wear a bathing suit under their clothing and water shoes. Participants may also want to bring a change of clothes, we will be seining in the James River and Canoeing.
