The Chippokes Junior Ranger Academy is now accepting applicants. Kids will interact with nature and discover cool things about our history. Children who come to the program all four days will receive a Junior Ranger badge at the graduation ceremony. Activities and Topics include: 8/7 Forest Day: Nature Hike, Animal Tracking, Critter Creations 8/8 History Day: Historical Wagon Ride, Canoe Trip, Colonial Games 8/9 Farm Day: Pasture Pals, Make your Bunny, Owls, Snakes, Museum Tour 8/10 Beach Day: Insane for Seining, Beach Cleanup, Junior Rangers Graduation For kids 6-12 years old. Register by calling the park office at 757-294-3625 or emailing the park at Chippokes@dcr.virginia.gov. Please provide your name, primary telephone number, email address, and the names of children attending. Bring a packed lunch daily, sunscreen, water, and bug spray. On beach day, participants need to wear a bathing suit under their clothing and water shoes. On History day and Beach day, pack a change of clothes and shoes participants can get wet. Pay before 10 a.m. on August 7 to secure your spot. Space is limited. The cost for one day is $3 or $10 for all four days.
