Participants will have the chance to see Chippokes from a different view, from a kayak. Depending upon participant interest and the changing tides, these short trips will either take place along the James River shoreline or up stream on College Run Creek. Geared for novices or kayak-aficionados alike, this interpreter-led program includes a basic safety overview of kayaking, paddling techniques, and the opportunity for members of a family or group to get out on the water and have some fun and experience the beautiful scenery of the park. Group size is limited to 3 participants, ages 12 and up. This mid-week program will be held at three times; 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and Noon. Each trip lasting approximately 1 hour. Kayaks, personal flotation devices, and paddles are supplied. Participants must pre-register and pay their $9 fee at the Visitor Center. Don't wait, space is limited. Please park at the Visitor Center or the Museum parking lots and make your way down College Run Trail to the bridge adjacent to the river. You are encouraged to bring sun protection, bug repellant, and water. Trips may be delayed or cancelled dependent upon windy or stormy weather conditions.
