JRA is a member-supported nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the health of the James River and its tributaries.
Chippokes Plantation State Park offers modern recreational activities (camping, swimming, biking, etc) along with a glimpse of bygone life with its antebellum mansion, formal gardens, and the Farm & Forestry Museum. Volunteers assist with interpretive programs (historical and environmental), gardening activities, maintenance work, and special events.
Mission: To restore the Elizabeth River to the highest practical level of environmental quality through government, business and community partnerships.
Extension Master Gardeners are trained volunteer educators. VCE-MGs work within their local communities to encourage and promote environmentally sound horticulture practices through sustainable landscape management education and training.
